Parent Workshops

The Power of Words: Communicating with Purpose as a Parent

Our words have the power to build connection, shape self-esteem, and guide behavior — or to create distance and conflict. In this 90-minute interactive workshop, parents will learn practical strategies for communicating with empathy, clarity, and purpose. Through real-life examples, group discussions, and hands-on activities, we will explore:

How everyday language impacts your child’s confidence and sense of belonging

Common beliefs and habits that unintentionally block connection

Tools for active and reflective listening that help your child feel heard

Simple ways to repair communication after conflict

Participants will leave with actionable strategies they can use immediately to foster trust, cooperation, and a stronger relationship with their child.

Fitting In Isn’t Easy: Recognizing and Responding to Bullying

Bullying isn’t just a childhood “phase” — it can shape how a child sees themselves for years to come. It can damage self-esteem, create anxiety, and leave lasting emotional wounds. In today’s world, where bullying can follow children from the schoolyard to their screens, parents and educators need to be equipped to recognize the signs early and respond with empathy, clarity, and action.

In this interactive workshop, we will:

Explore the different forms of bullying — verbal, physical, relational, and online — and their unique impacts

Learn how to identify subtle and obvious warning signs that a child may be experiencing or engaging in bullying

Discuss how to create safe, open lines of communication so children feel comfortable sharing their struggles

Discover practical strategies for intervention, prevention, and building resilience in kids

Use stories — including my children’s book Fitting In Isn’t Easy — as conversation starters to help children understand empathy, kindness, and acceptance

Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of the emotional toll bullying takes, along with concrete tools to help children navigate difficult situations and feel seen, supported, and valued.

Building Emotional Intelligence in Children: Helping Kids Understand and Express Their Feelings

Understanding emotions is a cornerstone of healthy communication and strong relationships. This workshop equips parents and caregivers with tools to help children recognize, name, and manage their feelings in constructive ways.

We will explore:

Why emotional intelligence matters for children’s social and academic success

Practical strategies to teach kids empathy, self-awareness, and emotional regulation

How fostering emotional intelligence supports better communication and reduces conflicts

Activities and conversation starters parents can use at home to build these skills daily

By the end of this workshop, participants will feel empowered to nurture their child’s emotional growth, creating a foundation for resilience, confidence, and deeper family connections.
